Tampa, FL (April 11, 2013)—Treat mom to something new this Mother’s Day at the Palma Ceia Golf and Country Club on Saturday, May 4 from 11AM-2PM. A fresh spin on your standard Mother’s Day brunch, this year’s luncheon features more than a scrumptious spread and cheerful tulips but a boutique fashion show as well. The runway will be dripping with chic designs by Apropos, a favorite among Tampa fashionistas, and Smock Couture, a local, socially conscious children’s clothier. All proceeds benefit Brighter Tomorrows, Inc. a 501c3 corporation dedicated to helping victims of domestic violence.

More than car accidents, muggings and rapes combined, domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women between the ages of 15 and 44 in the US. Domestic violence does not discriminate. Battering occurs among people of all races, ages, socio-economic classes, religious affiliations, occupations and educational backgrounds. According to a recent study by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 24 people per minute experience intimate partner violence in the US. Unfortunately, a mere 25% of women and only 1 in 7 men report these incidents for fear of further abuse, threats, etc.

“We are truly honored to be able to help this fantastic organization with their great cause,” comments Dell Dahl, President of Excellence Industries.

A day honoring your mother would not be complete without a little shopping so a silent auction will also be taking place during the event. About Brighter Tomorrows

Brighter Tomorrows’ purpose is to increase awareness of domestic violence in our community, sponsor educational programs designed to reduce this crime, support organizations that directly address the needs of its victims, and strive to eliminate the conditions that allow such violence to continue. Brighter Tomorrows was founded in September of 2009, by members of the former Spring Daytime Auxiliary to support a broad range of organizations that directly address the needs of domestic violence victims in Hillsborough County. We accomplish our mission in two ways: by raising money through Brighter Tomorrows’ own fundraising arm, which is distributed through grants, and by bolstering other domestic violence organizations’ events and promotions by providing hands-on assistance to them to fill their volunteer needs.
